1. First Time

This was the first song we recorded that was penned almost entirely by our drummer, Steve King. Steve was about to have a baby boy when he wrote this and the song reflects the emotions swirling inside him at the time in simple honest terms. The first verse is written from the perspective of the fetus in the womb. The second verse comes from inside momma's head and deals with the changes she is going through, and then the final verse is all Steve. I recently hung out with Steve and his son Sam who is now 14(!!!) and playing guitar, making film documentaries and still hanging with his dad. It was amazing to see the real life results of these promises that Steve and his lady made to this unborn child years ago, now standing in front of me. With braces. Sam tells me his favorite bands right now are Cake and Queen. Rock on Sam!

Lyrics

FIRST TIME

VS.1
For these few days I've been living in solitude, a restful sea
The walls are close but I feel comfort now
Each breath you take, you take for me

VS.2
I thought I'd never need you
But now I feel you in my sleep.
Settle down my little one.
I'll hold you close and warm and deep

CHORUS
This is the first time I'm seeing
Maybe the last time I'll see
I'm discovering my reason for living
Is for the love of my family

VS.3
And now these moments pass so slowly
Between the times I spend with you
Learn your lessons well, my one and only
And you will feel the way I do

CHORUS
